Promoting the classics while turning a new page. As the Macao Chinese Orchestra (OCHM in Portuguese acronym) approaches its 35th anniversary, in a first collaboration, it specially invites Yang Youqing, renowned conductor and professor at the Conducting Department of China Conservatory of Music, to present an anniversary concert spanning the golden years of OCHM.
In the concert, Chen Xiaorong, Yangqin player and founding member of the Macao Chinese Orchestra (OCHM in Portuguese acronym) will co-present with OCHM principal Yangqin player Li Kewei, Sichuan General’s Command highly appreciated by fans since the Orchestra’s inaugural concert. Two classical commissioned works will be presented as well: Macau Capriccio, which fully displays the cultural diversity of Macao, and Bridge, which blends traditional Chinese music with Portuguese fado to show Macao’s role as a bridge for Sino-Western cultural exchange. The grand finale, Dragon Soaring in the East, is a piece celebrating the motherland’s prosperity. Don’t miss this wonderful concert!
